Chapter · 01 · Origins

A paediatric clinic that grew up alongside its families.

In 2008, Muthamil Hospital opened on Thiruvananthapuram Road in Palayamkottai with a single, simple charge — to look after the children of Tirunelveli with the dignity their parents deserved. What began as a paediatric centre has, in 18 years, grown into a multidisciplinary hospital — without ever quite losing the rhythm of a family clinic.

The original consulting room is still in use. The waiting room still keeps the same wooden bench. Most of the families who came in those first years now bring their grandchildren.

Forty beds, eleven specialties, one front desk.

Today the hospital runs 40 inpatient beds across general wards, semi-private rooms and private suites — with operation theatres, a neonatal unit, an in-house pathology & cytopathology lab, ultrasonography and X-ray, and a 24×7 emergency line — all under one roof on a single campus.
